The Fabrique de la paroisse Notre-Dame de Montréal

Founded in 1678, the Sulpicians created the canonical institution of Notre-Dame de Montréal parish.

Montréal's mother church, Notre-Dame de Montréal Basilica, and Canada's largest cemetery, Notre-Dame-des-Neiges, are among the entities that make up the Fabrique to this day. These two heritage sites are an integral part of the founding of the city of Montréal, previously known as Ville-Marie, in 1642.

Montréal's Mother Church

Every year, over a million visitors from all over the world pass through the doors of the Basilica. United by their amazement at the beauty of the site, they have the opportunity to discover Quebec's religious history, engraved in every stone.

Whether it's a sightseeing visit by day or The AURA Experience by night, Montréal's Notre-Dame Basilica offers a wide range of activities to suit all tastes.
